What to do
- Review your written self-management or exacerbation action plan.
- Continue routine medicines as prescribed.
- Use reliever medication only according to your instructions.
- Contact your GP or respiratory team promptly when symptoms worsen.
- Seek urgent help if you are not improving or are struggling to cope.
Rescue packs
Some people are prescribed antibiotics, steroid tablets or both to keep at home. A rescue pack is individual treatment and is not appropriate for everybody.
- Only start it for the symptoms specified in your plan.
- Follow the label and prescriber’s instructions exactly.
- Tell your GP or respiratory professional when you begin it.
- Seek further help if symptoms continue to worsen.
