Your search coordinates are used by every source. IQAir tries the nearest reporting station, then the nearest available city if station data is unavailable. DEFRA returns the nearest UK forecast point. Each result labels the actual coverage and its distance. The index numbers use different scales and should not be compared directly.

How to use your local report

Check the place and time

Check your selected location, the area covered by each provider and the update time. The forecast button shows the same dates for both sources; missing values are not predictions.

Check how you feel today

Air quality does not describe your personal condition. Recent flare-ups, illness or worsening symptoms may mean you need more caution. Follow your own COPD action plan and contact your care team about new or worsening symptoms.

Consider weather and triggers

Heat, cold and humidity can affect breathing even when pollution is low. If pollen is one of your triggers, check a separate pollen forecast. This report does not currently include pollen or dust forecasts.

Living with COPD

What this may mean for your day

IQAir’s current air quality and DEFRA’s local forecast are explained separately below. Your symptoms and personal care plan take priority over either result.

Choose the stage your clinician has told you, or leave all stages selected. This changes which guidance is shown; it does not diagnose your stage, change the AQI or calculate a personal medical risk score.
